Malik

Malik, 16, is a competitive runner and aspiring fashion model from New York City. He was born in Harlem to a Cuban-Chinese mother and an African American and Cherokee father, from which he's inherited a love for cultural immersion and traveling, and a natural gifting at learning Spanish. He's put this into practice most recently in Cuba and Spain.

When not traveling, Malik does training runs and 5k races with the NY-based Achilles Kids club, of which he's been a member since he was 8 years old. The young athlete loves basketball as well, looking to Steph Curry and Michael Jordan as his inspirations. When not getting in his training, Malik can be found dancing, singing, playing video games, and watching "Glee."

He's a natural onstage, having now modeled in several Gigi's Playhouse NYC fashion shows—including one for Bloomingdale's!— as well as for a high-end handbag label.

Malik describes his career aspirations: "My biggest dream I have is to become a fashion model and a singer and to own a business to pass down to my family."

Supporting family is key to Malik. He adds, "The one thing I love is about my family is showing love to them. Giving them a big hug every time they are upset and sad."

Malik's family is incredibly supportive of him as well. His mother Yamira writes, "Your child is full of potential and you will be surprised at the many accomplishments they will achieve. They are the most lovable and loving individuals you will meet and they are unstoppable."
